Many Palestinians sought refuge in Lebanon, and fell victim to that country’s internal strife. This photo shows war damage in Shatilla refugee camp, where, along with Sabra refugee camp, over 1000 Palestinians were massacred by the Israeli - backed Phalangist militia in 1982.
