"On the Shore" 250 s/n
This could be
one of a hundred bays along the Bruce Huron shoreline, I know of
at least 10 places almost identical to this.
The spot is actually the west side of Russell Island just
offshore from Tobermory, with the Wetmore sunk within view,
and the James C. King just around the corner and the John
Walters around the other corner. A sunny misty morning, with my
trusty Kayak pulled on on the alvar shore.

Returning one last time to "Snug Harbour", just north of Parry Sound,
ends a long line of tugs including the "JAC" originally from the Parr family.
The fall colours and granite rocks provide a colourful contrast to the stark outlines of the tug.

One of the last Imperial lighthouses, it was built in 1856 to light the way for mariners,
and still shines a welcome beacon to many.

The majesty and beauty of the cliffs, rocks and trees of this famous island is always inspiring. While the artist usually
has little trouble in painting trees, this piece was tryly a challenge. Getting lost in the forest was a regular occurance.

The original lighthouse at Flowerpot Island with Lloyd Smith's "Penguin" accent the beautiful colour and
expanse of Georgian Bay in the 1960's.

The use of geometric lines is important where tree, rock and horizon lines all converge on the little
flowerpot, naturally pulling the eye in and keeping it there.

"Lighthouse Bluffs" 450 s/n
The Unlike its sister, "Flowerpots", "Lighthouse Bluffs" did not have naturally occuring geometric lines, but by
working very carefully with the wave action, the reflection lines on the water, and the rocks under the water Kent
was able to create a radius of lines flowing into the base of the rocks which again pulls the eye into the piece and
creates a very pleasing image.
